January 5, 2025 Training: The four primary net administration functions are defined on our ARES web site and can be found at https://ks-lv-ares.signaleer.us by searching for: Net Control Station Responsibilities. I’m using that list so we don’t need to duplicate it here or chance having an update anomaly later.

The four positions are in the following sequence of importance for our JARA nets: NCS, LOG, TNG, ANCS. JARA nets make provision for handling National Traffic System messages but we haven’t experience actual traffic on our nets for a long time. Having a back-up to the NCS is a good thing, but the most prominent use of an ANCS is to allow the net to be split to handle traffic, with the ANCS either directing the traffic on an alternate frequency (preferred) or taking over the net so the NCS can direct traffic.

This page will get updated as we fill in the TBDs and TBAs.
