FT5/3 Data Connections

This page is provided for refence to those who are trying to use their Yaesu System Fusion hand-held radio for digital (packet or VARA) transmission for Winlink and FLDIGI. Page captures are from the Advanced Manuals for FT5DR and FT3DR. See the WIRES-X Connection Cable Kit SCU-57 Driver Installation Manual for cable kit details. See figure at the bottom of the page for comparison of 2 kits currently available. FYI – If you want to use your handheld radio as a Portable Digital Node over WiresX , you’ll need the SCU-55 cable that comes with this kit. You’ll be killing two birds.

The SCU-57 kit should have the SCU-55 (vs the SCU-19) cable. The SCU-55 is compatible with Windows 11. The older SCU-19 cable is not. Also, the SCU-57 kit is cheaper.
